CANYON SUNSET
Autumn gathers dusk in the light of day
wealthy waves of sunlight maintain their stay.
Lingering and languished they ignite the sky
seceding to darkness as dusk passes by.
What beauty these journeys to darkness share
with shoulders so broad, the rays that they bear
ushering out the last light of the day
in a spledid, magnificent, heavenly array.

"In the last autumn before the new millennium I went to the Grand Canyon to ask it some questions. While there I heard the plaintive sounds of the native flute. I saw the eagle soar high above the Canyon walls. I heard the words "beautiful! Peaceful! and awesome!" uttered by a thousand tongues in the language of people from the four corners of the globe."

The Canyon is so inspirational for us that we try to make at least one trip a year. We usually go in the fall because we can combine our love of chamber music with the trip to the Canyon. If you like chamber music
Grand Canyon Music Festivalis a real treat. For more information on the Festival, click on the above link and go to organizations.
One chapter of PRACTICAL SPIRITUALITY was inspired by the Canyon. Click onto the link - CANYON CALL TEXT at the bottom of the page to read this chapter.
